The world is facing humanity's biggest crisis since World War two. The virus that emerge in Wuhan, China has left devastating impact on human life. The spread of COVID 19, the global pandemic remains unabated, impacting nearly 85 per cent of the globe.
Suddenly the concept 'lockdown' emerge and now it becomes a very familiar term to all. To stop the spread of the virus and to break the chain countries took decisions of lockdown. Almost all the people of the planet were started kept themselves in isolation or in self quarantine.
Indian government also took quick decision and essential first step to announce lockdown. It was perhaps the most crucial and essential decision for determined the action to quarantine 1.3 billion people with a complete closure of all travel and enforced social distancing and isolation. There are concerns on how will the largest democracy in the world copes with the lockdown and manage to prevent the spread of the virus.
Though it was unbelievable for all at first, but gradually it becomes easy and habitual. There are lots of issues related to the pandemic. The largest lockdown in the human history has shutdown the world economy. Labours become jobless, the daily earners has to fight with hunger, heavy loss in business and farming, students missed their classes. In one sentence, the world has been stopped since more than one month.
There are a saying that every thing has two dimensions- the positive and the negative. Though the positive aspects during this situation is very less in-front-of the damages that occurred; as the situation demands we should find out its positive effects to stay positive, and try to cope up with the situation with a optimistic mindset.
So here the first positive aspect is that people started growing interest for information and technology. I am a student of Masters in the Department of Communication and Journalism, Gauhati University and we are doing online classes through skype and zoom. Our department conducted hundreds of classes in one month. Yes, ofcourse we missed our regular class which can't be replaced by it. But through the online classes we are able to interact with professors and media educators from different institutions of the country as well as of abroad. During this lockdown people get the chance to experience the changes in technology now, which will may take another 10 years to come. They started exploring different features in their mobile phone and laptops; using search engines and social media for more creative works. Development in health sector and people's concern for maintaining hygiene is another positive impact that stayed for long.
People get the opportunity to take a break from the things after which they are running for long, and look back and give time to their own life for what they are running. Often happens we forget for what we are doing such rush in our life. This lockdown give us the opportunity to think about that. We started relive our childhood. Give time to our family, look after parents. Re-live our passion and hobbies what we have underestimate for long. After so long many practices painting their dreams in paper through colours, dancing in the beat of their favourite song, bring out musical instrument and play favourite tune, exploring new recipes in their kitchen, take care of health and beauty using homemade remedies, and many more.
While the shutdown of factories, vehicles and all other day to day activities human faced lots of loss and damages, on the other hand nature shows improvement in it. People always tries to make their life comfortable and luxurious. In this run they create lots of damages to the planet. Environmentalists constantly talking about it. Government take initiatives to aware people through advertising, hoardings, impose restrictions and fines as well. Invest crore and crores of money on projects to protect the environment. But all are in vein. But the lockdown in the activities of human; the best creature of the earth and their worst impact, has bring a dramatic change in to the earth. Due to lockdown the Ganga and other rivers water quality has improved; along with Delhi, the most polluted city of the country and other cities air pollution become less. There are greenery everywhere, birds flying in the blue sky freely, flowers blooming beside roads. The river, the street, the citys, the earth appears heavenly in the absence of fog, wages and pollution. This teach people a lesson how much damages they can create to the planet in one month. And this may will make people think twice before doing any activity.
India is a democratic country and all has the right to take decisions. During this lockdown people become less bious in political thinking. Besides different people have different political views and ideology they started praising the government for their service, support and obeyed their dicession. It is quite a challenging task to kept the country under lockdown. But it is the good governance of the ruler and obeying attitude of the people that makes it possible. This is a good sign for democratic country.
So these are some positive effects which we have been wanted to change for long investing money and effort but unable to do so. But this lockdown brings these changes magically without any effort in it. So in a positive manner we can consider ourselves as unfortunately fortunate to having the chance to experience it. And last but not the least people learn to respect nature, respect time, respect life, respect the mother earth. We started learning that there is a supreme power above all of us, which you can asume as God or nature or the strength as wish, whom we always underestimate and kept ourselves blind in the greed of power.

Awesome. Worth a read.
